1895 – 2025

In 1895, our great-grandfather Gottlieb Kurz began to draw patterns for our unique real silver items with a great passion for style and aesthetics. He decided early on to produce only high-quality 925 sterling silver instead of silver-plated goods covered with a thin layer of silver and created a collection of fine silverware that quickly became in demand in Germany, Europe and overseas.

Fortunately, his wonderful pattern books survived two world wars, our company fire and the flood disaster.

On May 7, 2013, while former Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs Hans-Dietrich Genscher was being awarded the Viadrina Prize for his services to German-Polish understanding and I was busy correcting A-levels as a senior teacher at Schubart Gymnasium in Aalen, a devastating fire destroyed a large part of our company building. I made a quick phone call, put the corrections aside and drove to the company, access was impossible due to several fire engines, ambulances and the police – what a tragedy! And not the last: on May 29, 2016, the flood of the century in Schwäbisch Gmünd took us by surprise and destroyed many of our valuable wooden lever handle molds, all of which date back to the founding period!

“Fall down, get up, straighten your crown, carry on.” Unfortunate coincidences, all the more reason for us to agree wholeheartedly with this saying and to produce our Art Nouveau vase 9834 in a family atmosphere with our experienced silversmiths today with the same perfect craftsmanship as 130 years ago, only the item number has become 11600.

Gottlieb Kurz attached particular importance to the largest selection of real silver walking sticks, both then and now. We have been advertising in the German Adelsblatt for some time now and are delighted at the great interest in our fine unique sterling silver pieces.
